Riding In the Dark

I rode 8 miles betwixt twilight and dark tonight.  The cool breeze was fantastic.  I could get used to riding my bike, but I think I should pay attention to bike maintenance now that I am riding more.  There were several new squeaks on my bike tonight (an NO the squeaks were not from me!).

Biking Until Further Notice

I am going to bike until my ankle is better.  This continuous running and resting isn’t allowing my left leg to heal.  Tonight I did a 12 mile bike ride and my it felt like a pretty good workout.

Just For the Record

Not that a 10 mile bike ride is that impressive, but just for the “books” I will note the effort.  Two notable events: 1.  Riding north on Maynard is MUCH different than riding south on Maynard; 2.  Riding my bike hurts my butt.

Rebuilding What Was Lost

My 6.0 mile run was great today in comparison to the last few weeks.  My leg is getting stronger and my run felt pretty good.  It was humid and sticky outside, but it was nice to run more than 5 miles.  I have a long way to go though.

Future Athletes!

I am only reporting this 3.5 mile bike ride for the sake of my children.  They both rode with me for 3.5 miles and they were so stinking cute when they got home because they were all flushed and sweaty.  They were very proud of themselves because this was the longest ride they ever attempted.  Did I mention we stopped for a donut during the ride?

Getting Stronger?

I ran 4.75 miles today for a quick break from work.  I ran my fastest time in quite some time at 7 minute 15 second miles.  I wasn’t trying to run fast, but I believe that the race I ran a few weeks ago has been speeding me up.  My leg continues to hurt, but I think the pain is getting more manageable.

Elliptical Ride

Today I didn’t have much time to work out during the day and I didn’t want to hurt my leg any more.  So, I did 20 minutes on the elliptical machine during the day and then did a 7 mile bike ride tonight.  My leg needed the rest and I think I got a decent workout.  I do HATE the elliptical machine by the way.

Running Around Town

I ran 5.0 miles around downtown today strategically running past drinking fountains.  The small stops for water gave my left leg a brief rest along the way.  The pain is still there, but I might be past the worst.

Beautiful Day for a Run

I ran 5 miles today without too much pain.  During the run my leg was fine; after the run it hurt a bit.  I am starting to feel like this is a “complain about my pain” blog, but that is the major theme in my running right now.

Run and Ice…

I ran 3.4 miles and then quickly iced my leg – this has seemed to work this past week.  I truly do not think it would be wise to run over 3.5 miles until my leg feels better.  My body feels great while I am running, it is just my left stinking shin… BLAST!
