Antibiotics Anyone?

After a few days on antibiotics I thought I could get back to running.  Today I ran 8.8 miles after a short 4.0 mile run yesterday.  Taking a week off for sickness gave me perspective.  A few days off isn’t going to ruin my fitness, in fact I think it might have improved my attitude toward this whole running competition thing.  Maybe we should all just get along and encourage one another.  I guess what I am saying is “I am sorry”… sorry for “striking while the iron is hot” and trying to sneak in runs to win the month.  No, my attitude is different now and I will hopefully run smarter because of this change.  Why do we run?  To feel healthy and good, not to risk sickness and injury.

Strike While the Iron Is HOT (SICK)!

I ran a great 9.1 mile run today – I wasn’t feeling fantastic, but while my nemesis is out of sorts I thought I would run a long one.  My goal is to sleep in on Saturday rather than run in the morning too.  I would say that it has taken a good 5-6 months to feel strong again while running after that stinking stress fracture.  My average time was good today and hopefully I will no longer have to discuss pain (in my leg).

Back on Track!

I ran 7.2 miles today out in the cold weather again.  My running week went really well after taking a about a week off.  Garry likes being behind in the running standings so he can come through at the end of the month.  Sad…. but, I shall forge the path!

Soft n’ Snowy

The soft snow is great for my leg.  My 6.5 mile run wasn’t anything special, but due to the crappy weather I thought it deserved to be blogged about.  That is all!

Treadmill Running Doesn’t Count!

After running 4.0 miles out in this freezing weather, through a foot of snow in places I have concluded that treadmill runs do not count!  At no time was I cold out there, but it wasn’t easy getting through the elements.  I felt like Rocky training in Russia, except I am not in Russia and I am taller than Sylvester Stallone.  My lungs hurt a bit after this run because I am just getting over a slight cold.

Just Resting!

I am taking a legit week off from running due to my sledding injury.  That excess weight on my tibia did something bad, but it is feeling better after a few days off.  The running wasn’t irritating my leg very much so I am not worried about progressing toward the 15.5 miles.  Sledding is always worth the injury though!

I looked up some information on swimming verses running and I found this article.  It is interesting.
